Exterior Finishes
Deciding on what stain to use is probably one of the hardest of all the steps in the finishing and restoration process for the homeowner. There are so many manufacturers and contractors. There is oil and water-base stain to choose from. What kind of pigment is the most effective? What is pigment and what does it do? These are just a few questions we get from homeowners. Then you have to choose semi-transparent, semi-solid, or solid stain. If that's not enough, you then have to decide on color and find a contractor to do the work. This can all be very time consuming and seem a bit overwhelming.
One of our goals at CNW SPECIALTIES is to research and test these stains for quality, safety, and longevity, and then help educate you to make a knowledgeable choice as to what is best for your particular project. An oil-base stain such as Sashco’s Transformation may be the best option for one home, while in another instance a water-base stain like Perma-Chink Systems Lifeline Ultra may be best. You need to evaluate such things as the existing finish on your home, it’s age and condition, and also the elements your house is exposed to. Evaluating those things will help you make the best decision in which stain to use. One of the services we provide to our customers at CNW SPECIALTIES is to help with this evaluation and decision making process.
One of the systems that we offer is a one coat water-base stain called Ultra-One. It is followed by a clear top coat of Lifeline Advance. This has held up very well and is our most popular option. It is also a more affordable system compared to going with one of the three or four coat systems we offer. Looking at your budget and long term plans are something that we discuss with you and take into consideration when recommending a stain system for you. You can call us and we can evaluate your needs and make a recommendation for your home.
